Frequently Asked Questions

What is the recovery time for injectables?

One of the biggest advantages of injectable treatments is that they generally involve little to no downtime. Most clients return to their normal routine the same day or the following day, depending on the treatment and individual response. Below is a general guide for the most common injectables:

Anti-wrinkle injections (Botox®-type treatments)

Downtime: Minimal

Typical recovery: Same day

You may notice mild redness, small bumps, and occasional minor bruising. These effects usually settle within a few hours to 24 hours. Most clients go straight back to work or social activities the same day.

Dermal fillers

Downtime: Low

Typical recovery: 1–7 days (area -dependent)

Swelling is often most noticeable in the first 24–72 hours and then gradually settles. Bruising, if it occurs, can last up to a week, and final results are typically visible once swelling has fully resolved.

Polynucleotides (skin regeneration treatments)

Downtime: Minimal

Typical recovery: 1–2 days

Polynucleotides work by stimulating skin repair and regeneration. After treatment, you may notice small raised bumps at injection sites (especially with superficial techniques), and mild redness or swelling. These usually settle within 24–72 hours. There is very little disruption to daily life, and makeup can usually be worn after 24 hours. Skin quality continues to improve gradually over the following weeks.

In summary, everyone heals differently, and recovery can vary depending on the treatment area, technique, and your individual skin. You’ll always be given tailored aftercare advice to support healing and achieve the best possible results.

How often will I need to be treated?

Treatment frequency depends on the product used, the anatomical area treated, and individual metabolic factors. All injectable treatments are temporary, and maintenance is required to sustain results. A personalised treatment plan will always be discussed during consultation.

Anti-wrinkle injections (botulinum toxin)

Typical treatment interval: Every 3–4 months

Most patients require repeat treatment at 3–4 monthly intervals to maintain optimal results. With regular treatment, some patients may experience a longer duration of effect over time.

Dermal fillers

Typical treatment interval: Every 6–18 months (area and product dependent)

Dermal fillers are broken down naturally by the body over time. Longevity varies according to treatment area, filler composition and cross-linking, individual metabolism and lifestyle factors

Areas subject to higher movement (such as the lips) may require more frequent maintenance, whereas structural areas (such as the chin or jawline) typically demonstrate greater longevity. Treatment timing will be guided by clinical assessment and aesthetic balance.

Polynucleotides (biostimulatory skin treatments)

Typical treatment protocol: Course of treatment followed by maintenance.

Polynucleotides are typically administered as a course of 2–3 sessions, spaced 2–4 weeks apart, to stimulate cellular repair, collagen production, and skin regeneration. Maintenance treatments are commonly recommended every 6–9 months, depending on skin quality, age, and treatment goals.

Individualised treatment planning

Treatment intervals are determined on a case-by-case basis following a full medical consultation and facial assessment. The aim is to achieve safe, effective, and natural-looking results, while avoiding over-treatment.

Are Injectable treatments painful?

Injectable treatments are generally well tolerated, with most patients experiencing only mild and short-lived discomfort. Sensation varies depending on the treatment area, technique, and individual pain threshold.

Fine needles or cannulas are used, and measures such as topical anaesthetic, products containing local anaesthetic, and careful injection technique help minimise discomfort. Any tenderness or sensitivity after treatment is usually mild and temporary.

Patient comfort and safety are always prioritised, and pain management options are discussed during consultation where appropriate.

Are injectable treatments safe?

When carried out by a qualified and appropriately trained medical practitioner, injectable treatments are considered safe. As with any medical procedure, there are potential risks, which will always be discussed openly during your consultation.

Your safety is prioritised through careful assessment, use of approved, high-quality products, and clear aftercare and follow-up advice to ensure the best possible outcome.

What aftercare is needed?

After injectable treatments, you’ll be given tailored aftercare advice based on the treatment performed. In general, patients are advised to:

   • Avoid touching or massaging the treated area for the remainder of the day

   • Refrain from strenuous exercise, alcohol, and excessive heat for 24–48 hours

   • Avoid lying flat for several hours following anti-wrinkle treatments

   • Delay makeup application for at least 24 hours, where advised

Mild swelling, redness, or tenderness is common and usually settles within a few days. Clear guidance will be provided on what to expect, and you’ll be advised when to contact the clinic if you have any concerns.
